1. Who We Are

CV Tailor is operated from the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data we collect through this service. If you have questions about how we handle your data, contact us at support@getcvtailor.com.

2. What Data We Collect

Account data: Your name and email address, collected when you sign up via Clerk.

CV and job description content: The text you paste into the tool when tailoring a CV. This is sent to Anthropic's API to generate your tailored CV and cover letter.

Usage data: How many CV tailors you have used. This is stored in your account metadata to enforce the free tier limit.

Payment data: Billing information collected by Stripe when you subscribe to Pro. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles all payment processing.

Technical data: Standard server logs including IP addresses and browser information, retained for security and debugging purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the CV tailoring and cover letter service
• To manage your account and subscription
• To enforce usage limits on the free tier
• To send transactional emails (account confirmations, payment receipts)
• To improve the service and fix bugs

4. Your CV Data

Your CV content is sent to Anthropic to generate tailored output. Anthropic processes this data as a sub-processor under their API terms. We do not use your CV data to train AI models, and we do not sell or share your CV content with any third party other than Anthropic for the purpose of generating your output.

Your master CV is saved in your browser's local storage only — it is never stored on our servers.

5. Third-Party Services

• Clerk — authentication and account management. Your account data is stored with Clerk. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic — AI processing. Your CV and job description are sent to Anthropic's API. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel — hosting. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

6. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict processing of your data
• Object to processing
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@getcvtailor.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (set by Clerk). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a notice in the app.
